The start of the week brought good news as Jordan Mitchell was released from the hospital on Monday and visited Westwood school Tuesday morning. Faculty and friends welcomed back our first Rebel involved in the weekend accident. Adam Greeno improved enough to join Dan Thompson and Sage Washburn on the mend on the 8th floor and are able to see visitors. Trent Baker and Blake Jorgensen continue to receive intensive medical care and visitors are restricted to immediate family. The funeral for Bradley Haburn, driver of the other vehicle in the accident, will be on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa will have the service.

The Sloan State Bank, 302 4th Street, Sloan, Iowa 51055 has set up seven individual accounts for donations to the following victims:

Further information will be coming out on other fundraisers as they are organized. A blood drive has already been set up at the school for Nov. 19th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. at Westwood School, 1000 Rebel Way, Sloan, Iowa.

Mercy Medical Center has been very cooperative with allowing our community to support the victims and their families with visits. The number of people coming to the hospital has been tremendous, however we have given the following guidelines to our student to help make the visits worthwhile. The first floor waiting room is available to all people to come, share and stay. Any visits to the other floors of the hospital should be in groups of three people or less. Please limit your visit on those floors to five minutes. Please keep the hallways clear so medical services can do their job. Please honor the signs on the doors if that person is sleeping, they need their rest.

We would like to respond to the many individual requests for information to the school, however we are using our web site www.westwood.k12.ia.us in hopes of posting as much information as we can. Thank you for your patience. The families and school would like to thank everyone for their continued support and prayers. It seems like this week everyone is a Westwood Rebel, thank you!
